Year Three Begins….

By: Joe Cardoso

When I sit back and think about all the things Nuts and Bolts Sports has accomplished in 2016, I have to laugh. Why? Because never in my wildest dreams did I think that in two short years my little sports company would have done so much. I am honored and blessed to have the team I have and the friends who have played a part in building this brand. NBS launched a new podcast The NBS Sports Hour with Joe& Patrick, and we had amazing guests. It was surreal for me to have one of my sports journalist heroes, Robert “Scoop” Jackson, or Michael Graham of the 1984 championship Georgetown Hoyas on the show. The list goes on, and each of them took time out of their busy schedules to talk with US!

As the world becomes more and more health conscious, everyone wants to get fit. So, we took a stab at it and launched the “Spotlight on Fitness” series. The idea was that once a month we would spotlight a fitness personality. Our first Q&A was with the Alicia Bell who just happens to be the personal trainer of the mother of a guy named Drake, and she also worked with Dwight Howard. The column took off after that, and I had the pleasure of speaking with a ton of great people who are kicking butt and taking names.

Our site traffic tripled and we were able to attend a ton of great events as members of the media and establish solid relationships with.

-The Globe Bowl in Allentown, PA

– The National Bowl in Daytona Beach, FL

-The Russell Athletic Bowl Orlando, FL

– American University Men’s Basketball

-George Mason University Men’s Basketball

-Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) Men’s Basketball

-Georgetown Men’s Basketball

2016 was an amazing year, and we have even BIGGER plans for 2017!! I cannot wait to share them with all of the fans, friends, and family.

Watching a dream that began on a sofa turn into something is amazing and humbling. Thank you to our readers for sticking with us and helping us grow.

I want to wish my team and all of you a Happy New Year! Whatever it is you want in life GO GET IT!

Joe (Cartright) Cardoso here! I’m the epitome of a sports junkie. An alum of the College of Southern Maryland, I received a diploma from the Maryland Institute of Broadcasting (MIB). During my tenure at MIB, I was a news/sports major and had the opportunity to intern at Fox 45 sports and Ravens Radio. I also worked as an overnight board operator for Sports Talk 980 ESPN Radio. I’ve been a total sports fanatic pretty much from the womb. My first love is soccer followed by basketball and then football. My favorite athletes are Kevin Garnett and Marino Rivera and my sports teams are the Yankees, Redskins, Michigan, Wizards, and Chelsea. My passion for sports is never ending. My sister once commented that I would probably follow pig racing if it was a sport! I had to agree. Nuts and Bolts Sports is a HUGE deal to me. It brings together others who share my obsession and love for everything sports and fulfills a life-long dream to bring sports news to fans my way.
