Wisconsin Stuns Undefeated Kentucky 71-64

By: Caleb Luketic

The Wisconsin Badgers have beaten the undefeated Kentucky Wildcats 71-64 in the Final Four. Wisconsin had to grind this win out, but they were the perfect team to do it because they have Frank Kaminsky and Sam Dekker. Wisconsin had to overcome some bad calls that went against them in the final minutes, but there were also some bad calls that went against Kentucky. Wisconsin was able to play solid defense, which limited Kentucky’s offensive opportunities.

The Wisconsin Badgers were led by junior Sam Dekker and senior Frank Kaminsky. Dekker scored 16 points, but Kaminsky led all scorers with 20 points and 11 rebounds. Wisconsin was able to neutralize the Kentucky big men, which created poor shots and easy transition buckets for Wisconsin. Wisconsin was also plus 12 on the boards.

The Wisconsin Badgers advance to their first National Championship since 1941, and they will face off against Duke. Wisconsin ended Kentucky’s pursuit of 40-0 to become the first team since the 1975-1976 Indiana Hoosiers team to go undefeated in a season. I really think that Wisconsin had the confidence they had because they saw that Notre Dame was able to almost beat them. Notre Dame provided the blue print on how to beat Kentucky, and Wisconsin followed it perfectly. Kaminsky got the perfect birthday present by ruining Kentucky’s perfect season.
