Thursday Night Football: NY Jets vs. Cleveland Browns Preview

The New York Jets (1-1) and the Cleveland Browns (0-1-1) are coming off very disappointing losses in week 2. The Jets lost to the Miami Dolphins 20-12 and the Browns lost to the new Orleans saints 21-18.

The Jets are playing their 3rd football game in 11 days. Sam Darnold became the youngest quarterback to throw for over 300 yards on Sunday. Darnold was 25-41 for 334 yards, 1 touchdown and 2 interceptions. Quincy Enunwa continues to be his favorite target. It 2 games, Enunwa has 13 catches, 155 yards and 1 touchdown. The running game struggled a bit, but Isaiah Crowell and Bilal Powell could be a very effective 1-2 punch. The Jets defense shut the Dolphins out in the 2nd half and sacked Ryan Tannehill 4 times.

The Cleveland Browns haven’t won a game in 634 days. Tyrod Taylor continues to start under center over Baker Mayfield. The Browns selected Mayfield with the #1 Pick in the 2018 NFL Draft.

Taylor is completing 52.9% of his passes and has thrown 2 touchdown passes and 2 interceptions.

Darnold’s 21-year-old head must be ready to explode after watching film of three different defenses over the past 10 days. The Jets should be able to put up some points against a Browns defense that has improved since last season. The Browns defense is very good but their offense has been average at best. They scored 21 and 18 points in their first two weeks. For the Jets to win, they must take the lead early and establish the running game with Crowell and Powell. If New York can force the Browns into 3rd and long or passing situations, they should win the game. The Browns are 4-45-1 in their last 50 games. games.

Take the Jets 24-16
