Thursday Night Football: LA Chargers at Kansas City Chiefs

Fantasy Football

The Los Angeles Chargers will travel to Kansas City to take on the Chiefs. These are the only two teams in the AFC that have 10 or more wins. The Chargers are 10-3 and the Chiefs are 11-2.

The Winner of this game should take a command over the AFC West and be the favorite, to have home field advantage throughout the playoffs.

LA has won three straight games and 9 out of their last 10. Phillip Rivers continue to have an MVP-like Season. The former North Carolina State quarterback is completing 69.4% of his passes has 29 touchdowns and only 6 interceptions. Running back Melvin Gordon is doubtful for Thursday nights game and back-up Austin Ekeler will not play. Look for Justin Jackson to get the bulk of the carries. WR Keenan Allen will have to have a “monster game” if the Chargers want to pull the upset. Allen has 88 catches, 1074 yards and 6 touchdowns on the year.

LA’s defense has had the motto of “bend but don’t break.” They are 8th in the NFL giving up 331.8 yards per game but they only give up 20.8 points per contest. They only have 24 sacks in 13 games so they must figure out away to pressure Kansas City’s quarterback.

Patrick Mahomes is on pace to pass for over 5,000 yards, pass for over 50 touchdowns and rush over 400 yards. Oh, and just a reminder, he is only 23-years-old.

He has the accuracy of a young Dan Marino and the playmaking ability of Brett Favre.

Tight End, Travis Kelce is on pace for 1,426 receiving yards this season. That would be the most by a TE in NFL history. Tyreek Hill continues to be a Pro-Bowl, playmaker.

He has 74 receptions, 1,258 receiving yards and 11 touchdowns. Look for the Chiefs to run him out of the backfield tonight.

Defensively the Chiefs are about as bad as a team can be. Over the past three weeks they have given up 54,33, and 24 points. They are ranked in the bottom 5 in almost every category. They only way they can be affective is to create 3rd and long situations, get sacks and turnovers.

In my pre-season article I had LA winning the AFC West and Kansas City making the wild-card. I want to take the Chargers with every fiber of my being. But, as we have seen over the past few years they continually lose games they should win and break their fans hearts.

My message to Phillip Rivers

I don’t want to do it… but I am taking the Chargers 34-31
