The Miami Heat Must Part Ways With Erik Spoelstra

For years I have heard the so called, “NBA Experts” tell me how great of a coach Erik Spoelstra is. My response has always been the same, to quote NFL Legend Bill Parcells, “You are what your record is”.

Before LeBron James arrived in South Beach, Coach Spoelstra’s record was as follows.

• 43-39… Lost in the 1st round of the playoffs.
• 47-39… Lost in the 1st round of the playoffs.

After LeBron James left South Beach, coach Spoelstra’s record is as follows.

• 37-45… missed the playoffs.
• 48-34… Lost in the 2nd round of the playoffs.
• 41-41… Missed the playoffs.
• 44-38… Lost in the 1st round of the playoffs.

The Heat will not make the playoffs this year. Over the past 10 games in “Must Win” situations, Miami is 4-6 and they have lost 4 in a row. The Orlando Magic and Brooklyn Nets have clinched a playoff spots in the Eastern Conference. The Magic haven’t been to the playoff since 2011 and the Nets are returning to the extra season for the first time in three years.

When you look at the Heat’s roster, their highest paid player, Hassan Whiteside, is 9th on the team in minutes played. The $24 million dollar man plays 23.9 minutes per contest. Pat Riley signed Whiteside to be the cornerstone of this franchise and he is not even playing at the end of games.

Say it out loud…The Heat missed the playoffs three out of the last 5 years. Without LeBron James, Coach “SPO”, has never made it past the 2nd round of the playoffs.

Fans and media may like Erik, but he is no getting it done on the court.

It is time for Riley to make the move and fire his protégé.
