The Golden State Warriors Dynasty, LeBron to the Lakers

In the 2006 movie, Talladega Nights, Ricky Bobby said, “If you ain’t first, you are last”  There are only 3 teams in professional sports who live by this motto. The New York Yankees, any team LeBron James is on, and the Golden State Warriors.

The Golden State Warriors have been to 4 straight NBA Finals, they won three (Two in a row), and they set the record in 2015, for most wins in the regular season (73). So what did the Warriors do after winning their 2nd straight NBA Title. They went our and signed the most talented big man in the NBA, DeMarcus Cousins to a 1-year contract worth about $5 million.

In 48 games last season with the New Orleans Pelicans, Cousins averaged 25.2 points, 12.9 rebounds and 5.4 assists. When healthy, he is the most complete big man in the NBA. The former Kentucky Wildcat star is coming off an injury and won’t be ready to play until January or February.

Golden State’s coach Steve Kerr may want Cousins to come off the bench but in the 4th quarter, these five players will be on the court.

PG Stephen Curry

SG Klay Thompson

SF Kevin Durant

PF Draymond Green

C DeMarcus Cousins

you are looking at the most dominant starting five in the history of the NBA. 4 out of 5 should make it to the Hall of Fame ( I don’t think Draymond Green is a Hall of Fame player, he has a career average of 9.3 points per game).

If healthy this team could go 4-0,4-0,4-0 and 4-0 in the playoffs next year to win their 3rd straight championship. If they do that, they will be considered by many, to be the greatest team ever.

The Warriors have now become the New England Patriots of the NBA. Players are taking less money to come to their team.

LeBron James signed a 4- year, $154 million contract with the Los Angeles Lakers. LA has also signed, Rajon Rondo and Lance Stephenson.

The Lakers are not built to win now, but they will position themselves to be “big-time” players next year in free agency.

Los Angeles will make the playoffs, but I don’t see LeBron getting to his 9th straight NBA finals. James did not win his first year in Miami, his 1st year when he went back to Cleveland but he will win a title in LA. Giving the man they call the King, 3 titles with 3 different teams.
