PDF Volume III: Packers, Dolphins, Falcons Preview and Prediction

By Monte Perez

I am 5-1 picking Green Bay Packers, Miami Dolphins, and Atlanta Falcons games. I wanted to take the Dolphins speed over the Baltimore Ravens experience last week, but I wimped out. I guess we can title this entry…

PDF: Week 3 Preview and Prediction:

1-1 Green Bay Packers @ 2-0 Tampa Bay Buccaneers :

Time: 4:25 PM

TV: Fox

Betting Line. Tampa Bay favored by 1 point.

Todd Bowles has the Bucs playing at an elite level on defense. Tampa is only giving up 6.5 points per game. Teams are only converting on 3rd down 25% of the time. That is 2nd in the NFL. Tom Brady is only averaging 191.5 passing yards per game but they are 13th in rushing, averaging 112 yards per contest. Star WR, Mike Evans has been suspended for 1 game for attacking New Orleans Saints defensive back, Marshon Lattimore.

The Packers defeated the Chicago Bears Sunday night, 27-10. Aaron Jones rushed for 132 yards and Sammy Watkins had 3 catches for 93 yards. This offense will be tested on Sunday, they are only averaging 17 points per game which is 23rd in the NFL.

Prediction:

Packers head coach Matt LaFleur is 11-1 against the Bears and Detroit Lions. Green Bay beats up on the weaker teams in their division and the NFL. Tampa is not weak.

Bucs 24… Packers 20

2-0 Buffalo Bills @ 2-0 Miami Dolphins

Time: 1:00 PM

TV: CBS

Betting line: Bills favored by 5 points.

The Bills have outscored the Los Angeles Rams and Tennessee Titans in their 1st two games, 72-17. The last 20 times the Bills have won in the regular season, they defeated their opponents by double digits. This team is not only winning they are dominating. They are 1st in the NFL, averaging 36 points per game.

The Dolphins are fun to watch. They are 1st in the NFL in passing yards. They average 351 yards per game. Tua Tagovailoa, Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle are the best quarterback/wide receiver combo in the NFL. As Dan Patrick used to say, “You can not stop them, you can only hope to contain them.”

Prediction:

The Bills are an elite team in the AFC, the Dolphins are a good team. Both will make the playoffs but Buffalo is better right now.

Bills 37… Dolphins 29

0-2 Atlanta Falcons @ 1-1 Seattle Seahawks:

Time: 4:25 PM

TV: Fox

Betting line: Seahawks are favored by 1 point.

Seattle won their opening against the Denver Broncos and Russell Wilson, 17-16. That was their Super Bowl. This team doesn’t have the talent to win more than 5 games. They are ranked at the bottom half of the league in almost every offensive and defensive category. I would be shocked if Pete Carroll is on the sidelines coaching this team next season.

The Falcons head coach, Arthur Smith is beyond conservative on offense. He makes Rex Ryan look like Sean McVay with his offensive play calling. Kyle Pitts has 4 catches in two games. Look for Atlanta to force feed him the ball in the 1st half. This is Marcus Mariota’s last stint to try and prove he can be a starting quarterback in the NFL. He must take shots down the field and be more aggressive despite what his coach says. Atlanta should get their first win of the season.

Falcons 30… Seahawks 20
