5 Things We Learned About Week 14 In The NFL:

5) Say Goodbye to Doug Marone:

The Jacksonville Jaguars lost to the Los Angeles Chargers, 45-10. It was the teams 5th straight loss. How does Doug Marone still have a head coaching job? He was 11-17 in The Big East at Syracuse. 15-17 with the Buffalo Bills and now he is 20-27 with the Jags. This team signed Nick Foles to an $88 million contract, Marone benched him last week. The ownership of this team should send a message and fire Marone, ASAP. This team has quit on their coach.

4) Jameis Winston is the ultimate gun slinger:

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers defeated the Indianapolis Colts, 38-35. Winston was 33-45, threw for 456 yards, 5 total touchdowns and 3 interceptions. He simultaneously always keeps his team in games and helps the other team stay in games. The Former Florida State quarterback, suffered a small fracture in his hand so his status for next week is uncertain. On the year, he is completing 61% of his passes, threw 26 touchdowns, 23 interceptions and fumbled the ball 9 times. Turning the ball over constantly is not a winning formula but the Bucs are entertaining to watch.

3) Are the Ravens the best team in the NFL?:

The Ravens have won 9 games in a row. During that stretch they have beaten:

Ravens 26… Steelers 23
Ravens 30… Seahawks 16
Ravens 41… Texans 7
Ravens 45… Rams 6
Ravens 20… 49ers 17
Ravens 24…Bills 17

They have beaten the best of the best in the NFL. The Ravens will represent the AFC in The Super Bowl and could be the next mini-dynasty in the NFL. Get used to it.

2) 49ers beat the Saints in a classic:

The San Francisco 49ers kicked a game winning field goal with time expiring to defeat the New Orleans Saints, 48-46. Jimmy Garoppolo threw for 349 yards and had 4 touchdown passes. Drew Brew threw for 349 yards and had 5 touchdown passes. The Saints may have lost on the scoreboard but the NFL won with this game. They are already calling this, the game of the year. These teams could meet again in the NFC Championship.

1) Is it time for the Patriots to pass the torch?

The Patriots have won 16 division titles since 2000. During that time they have won 6 Super Bowls. New England play at the Bengals, home against Buffalo and Miami. This team is going to win the AFC East again but is this dynasty over? Their offense looks old, slow and out of sync. I would be shocked if this team makes it to the Super Bowl.

Bonus Coverage:

The Return of Eli Manning! In the first half against the Eagles, Eli was 11-19, 179 yards and 2 TD’s. Unfortunately, for Giants fans, they lost to Philadelphia, 23-17. The NFC East is terrible, it will be interesting to see who represents the division in the playoffs. Philadelphia plays Dallas in week 16.

The Dolphins kicked 7 Field Goals in their 22-21 loss to the Jets. Miami should have won this game but a late pass interference call allowed New York to kick the game winning field goal. Miami is well coached and despite their 3-10 record, they are fun to watch with Ryan Fitzpatrick under center.

The Denver Broncos were up 31-3 at halftime against the Texans before winning, 38-24. Houston we have a problem! The Texans have been blowout in 2 of their last 4 games. Has Bill O’Brien lost the locker room?

Derrick Henry should get votes for the MVP. The Titans beat the Oakland Raiders, 42-21. Henry rushed for over 100 yards and 2 touchdowns. He has 1,243 yards on the season, 13 touchdowns and is averaging 5 yards per carry. He is the best running back in the NFL.

The Steelers are 8-5 with a 4th string quarterback, a 3rd string running back, 2nd string wide receiver and a back up center. Mike Tomlin deserves coach of the year.

The Kansas City Chiefs are ranked 27th in rushing yards. If their running game doesn’t get better, they will be 1-and- done in the playoffs.

Don’t look now but the Rams are back in playoff contention. They face the Dallas Cowboys, in Dallas on Sunday.
