In the 2014 movie Draft Day, Kevin Kostner says:
This is what I am doing in this article. The problem is, I only have confidence in about 7 to 10 teams when it comes to the draft. I hope each general manager reads this article. It could lengthen their careers.
Dallas Cowboys (10-6):The Cowboys have a very good group of linebackers and they are set with Amari Cooper, Ezekiel Elliott, Jason Witten and Dak Prescott. There are 3 areas where they can improve, offensive line, defensive back depth and a #2 wide receiver.
Philadelphia Eagles (9-7):The Eagles could use some youth on their defensive line and more depth on the offensive line. This team will only go as far as Carson Wentz takes them. Protecting him should be their priority.
Washington Redskins (7-9):Quick question, do the Redskins have one player on offense that scares defensive coordinators? Short answer…Hell No. They should do everything in their power to draft wide receiver, D.K. Metcalf from Mississippi.
New York Giants (5-11):The Giants should draft a quarterback, they need a quarterback, but they won’t. They need a number 1 wide receiver, but they wont draft that either. The Giants are looking at a 3-year rebuilding project. They will probably draft linebacker, Devin White from LSU. White could be a pro-bowl selection for the next 5 to 7 years.
Chicago Bears (12-4): The Bears Draft picks are as follows 87th, 126th, 162nd, 222nd, and 238th.
They need OL help, some running back depth, and another edge rusher. Ben Banogu out of TCU could be a very good choice to put pressure on opposing quarterbacks.
Minnesota Vikings (8-7-1):On paper the Vikings have very good skill position players. They are set at running back, wide receiver and at the tight end position. They need to build up their offensive line. Andre Dillard of Washington State could be available and that will help them tremendously.
Green Bay Packers (6-10):The Packers made a big splash this off-season in free agency. They signed a few defensive players and offensive lineman Billy Turner. The Packers could select offensive lineman, Jawaan Taylor from Florida. I wouldn’t be surprised if they go after TE, T.J Hockensen out of Iowa. Aaron Rodgers would turn the rookie tight end into a star.
Detroit Lions 6-10): When was the last time Detroit had more than one explosive player on offense? The Lions have the 8th pick in the draft and they should take T.J Hockensen out of Iowa. If not, expect the Lions to go with defense. This draft is heavy in defensive lineman. The Lions are 3 years a way from winning 8 games. So they should stock pile picks.
New Orleans Saints (13-3):The Saints have been eliminated from the playoffs the last two years in heartbreaking fashion.
They don’t have a pick until the 2nd round so look for them to go with an offensive lineman or defensive backfield help. Eli Apple was a terrible pick up at the end of the year. He literally can’t guard anyone man to man.
Atlanta Falcons (7-9):The Falcons have regressed every year since their collapse in Super Bowl LI. They need to build up their defense and they should draft Clemson’s defensive tackle Christin Wilkins. He can clog up the middle for the next 7 to 10 years.
Carolina Panthers (7-9):The Panthers haven’t had a legitimate wide receiver since Steve Smith Sr. left in 2013. The Panthers should trade down and try and draft WR, Marquis Brown out of Oklahoma and grab one of the Tight Ends out of Iowa.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers (5-11):The Bucs defense was close to non existent last season. Look for them to get Josh Allen out of Kentucky. Allen is a physical presence on the defensive line and will demand double teams. Allen could be the best defensive player in the 2019 Draft.
LA Rams (13-3):The Rams have exceptional skill players on offense. I could see them getting Clelin Ferrell from Clemson. He would add depth to their pass rush.
Seattle Seahawks (10-6):I expect Seattle to draft heavy on defense. The “Legion of Boom” is long gone in the Pacific NorthWest. Pete Carroll could add some young, athletic, defenders to try and create another elite defense.
San Francisco 49ers (4-12):The 49ers will pick Nick Bosa out of Ohio State. He can get 10 sacks a year for the next decade.
Arizona Cardinals (3-13): In what has been one of the worst kept secrets in draft history. With the #1 overall pick the Arizona Cardinals will select Kyler Murray. With the 33rd pick the Cardinals could select Marquise Brown. That would be two player, who played for Oklahoma last year, now in the Arizona dessert. That is a very scary proposition for defensive coordinators.
