The New York Yankees are going to be taking their talents overseas and battle the Boston Red Sox in London, England. The Yankees travel across the pond playing some of their best baseball of the season. They just finished up a ten-game homestand against the Rays, Astros, and Blue Jays. They went 9-1 in the friendly confines of Yankee Stadium.
The London Series will be the first time regular season baseball is being played in Europe. The Yankees and the Red Sox are the perfect teams to bring baseball into Europe. It will add another chapter to the long storied rivalry.
Of course, when Major League Baseball scheduled these games, they were also hoping to see a battle for first place. The Red Sox are coming off of a World Series hangover and have struggled to get their footing in 2019. The Yankees however, have been off and running. When the first pitch is thrown Saturday, the Yankees will be nine games up on the Sox.
The Yankees were almost at full strength heading into England. Unfortunately, Giancarlo Stanton injured himself in Tuesday’s night win against the Jays. While the Yankees were initially hopeful Stanton would avoid the Injured List. As is the story of the 2019 Yankees, Stanton is back on the IL.
Giancarlo Stanton is going on the IL. He has a PCL strain, Aaron Boone says.

It’ll be some early baseball for fans. Saturday’s game has a conventional 1 pm eastern time start. Sunday’s game though will begin at 10 am. Game one will see a pitching matchup of Masahiro Tanaka against Rick Porcello. Sunday the Red Sox will throw Eduardo Rodriguez and the Yankees will most likely use a bullpen day.
It’s going to be a unique weekend for baseball fans. The Red Sox will be the “home” team in both games, and so the Yankees will have an opportunity to become the first team to score overseas. Yankee fans, just hope the wins keep on rolling.
