Toronto Raptors, ( 36-14)… A+.
The Raptors lost the best player in the NBA, (Kawhi Leonard), and haven’t missed a beat. Despite numerous injuries and players missing games, Toronto hasn’t missed a beat. Kyle Lowry, Pascal Siakam, and Fred Van Fleet are averaging 60.9 points per game combined. Serge Ibaka is averaging 15 points and 8 rebounds. Nick Nurse should win coach of the year.
Milwaukee Bucks, (42-7)… A+
It is hard to find fault with a team that has the best record in the NBA. Can the Bucks take the next step in the post-season? Giannis Antetokounmpo should win the MVP. He is averaging 30 points, 13.1 rebounds and 5.8 assists per game. The Bucks are 1st in the NBA, averaging 120 points per game.
Miami Heat, (33-15)… A-.
The Heat have exceeded expectations. Jimmy Butler appears to be the leader of this team. The Heat have 10 players who average over 8 points per game. Kenrick Nunn is the best player no one in the NBA knows about. He is averaging 16 points per game.
Boston Celtics, ( 34-15) … B+.
The Celtics are very well coached and appear to have team chemistry, now that Kyrie Irving in in Brooklyn. But, do they have enough to get to the NBA Finals?
Indiana Pacers, (31-19)… B.
The Pacers have played very well without Victor Oladipo. After the trade deadline, look for Oladipo to average 35 minutes a game. The Pacers could be very dangerous.
Philadelphia 76ers, (31-20)… C+.
Are the 76ers just a young team learning how to win, or did they peak last year? They are 22-2 at home and 9-18 on the road. Joel Embiid and Ben Simmons need to mature and figure out how to win away from Philadelphia.
Brooklyn Nets, (22-27) …C.
The Nets were a young team on the rise last year. They acquired Kyrie Irving, DeAndre Jordan and Kevin Durant. KD is out for the year and Brooklyn may not make the post-season. This team has underachieved in a big way.
Orlando Magic, (22-28) …C-.
The Magic made the playoffs last season and were on track to take the next step forward. That hasn’t happened. If Orlando doesn’t finish with a .500 record, look for them to make big time changes in the off-season, from top to bottom.
Chicago Bulls haven’t really been competitive since Derrick Rose left.
Washington Wizards have Bradley Beal and their number 2 option is Davis Bertans. That is all you need to know.
Charlotte Hornets have been an absolute disasters since Michael Jordan has taken over the team. In 9 years, they have had 2 winning seasons but never got past the first round. Other than James Dolan in New York, Jordan is the worst owner in the NBA.
Atlanta Hawks have too much young talent to be 13-38.
The Cleveland Cavaliers have been a dumpster fire since LeBron James left. 13-38 will get them another lottery pick but they will not draft the right player no matter what.
New York Knicks are the worst organization in all of sports. They have 1 playoff series win since 2000. Dolan is the worst owner in all of sports.
