Slow starts last season were a concern, but now it has become a definite bad trend.

The Philadelphia Eagles deserve all the credit in the world for their comeback win against the Washington Redskins, but scoring exactly zero first-quarter points against the defensively challenge Redskins and to keep expecting to win games that way – it is not going to continue happening.

Lots of the blame has to be put on head coach Doug Pederson.

Pederson needs to figure out why his team keeps coming out of the gate so flat and fix it.

Carson Wentz looked good in game one like he is back to his NFL MVP form, and that is a big deal.

He is unique and can make any throw needed on the field, but not a single one from the sidelines, wearing warmups.

Keeping him healthy is also a priority.

DeSean Jackson presence is game-changing.

There are not many wide receivers in the NFL like him.

With Jackson in the lineup, you can count on the Eagles’ offense to make big plays at any point during a game.

The Wentz to Jackson connection is going to give nightmares to defenses all season long, especially if the running game gets better.

The pass rush, and the secondary also have to do a much better job.

They gave Case Keenum way too much time to throw early in the game and Washington jumped out to a 17-0 lead.

Key points to keep an eye on for the upcoming game against the Atlanta Falcons:

  • The Falcons went to the Super Bowl in 2017 and it has been down hill ever since for them.

  • The Philadelphia Eagles will be a road favorite in this game and they have beaten the Dirty Birds three times in a row.

  • Carson Wentz look so good against the Redskins that is hard to believe the Eagles will not make it four in a row against the Atlanta Falcons.

Key player to watch?

  • My guy, two-time-All-Pro, Julio Jones.

It seems Julio left his game behind on the table after signing his new contract because he had a rough opener, but do not expect it to happen again.

Those guys named Julio are some bad mother…

My pick: Philadelphia 20 Atlanta 10.

The Philadelphia Eagles do not play the Dallas Cowboys until October 20th, but Dak Prescott was already talking junk on the sidelines about Philly during their win over the New York Giants in game one.

After going 0-2 against the Cowboys last season, it is never too early for a little bulletin board material.
