On Friday night, The Cleveland Cavaliers traveled to the nations capital to take on the Washington Wizards. The Cavaliers came out of the gate running and scored 35 points in the 1st quarter. LeBron James led all scorers, scoring 28 points in just 25 minutes because of early foul trouble. Kyrie Irving ended the night with 25 points in a team high 31 minutes. The Cavs also had major bench contributions from Dellavedova, Shumpert, and Thompson, all playing over 20 minutes.

The Cavaliers were unselfish with the ball tonight, with each starter having at least 2 assists. The Cavaliers had 28 assists as a team. The Cavaliers also shot 51% from the field and 42% from 3. The Cavaliers played a nearly perfect game except for Kevin Love’s attempted layup/dunk that got denied by the rim.

The Cavaliers came into the All-Star break 5th behind Washington. After tonight, the teams swap spots in the East. If the two teams stayed in the 4 and 5 spots until the playoffs they would meet in the first round, and if Friday was any indication, Washington will have a hard time stopping the Cavs.

This win was a fantastic way for the Cavs to kick off the second half of the season. They are going to have to catch Chicago for the Central division title and the 3rd seed in the Eastern Conference. If they play Chicago like they did before the All-Star break, it will be a tough road. If the Cavaliers can keep up what they did tonight with sharing the ball and making shots, they will be a team to reckoned with led by LeBron James.
