My Four #1 Seeds for the NCAA Tournament
The college basketball world has seen some incredible games and upsets this season, and one of those upsets came on Saturday night when BYU knocked off #3 Gonzaga. BYU ended Gonzaga’s 41-game home win streak. Saturday also brought the best team in the land #1 Kentucky routing #18 Arkansas 84-67. #2 Virginia and #4 Duke handled their opponents with ease. The big question is, who will be the top 4 seeds in the NCAA tournament? Here are my four, #1 seeds:
Kentucky Wildcats (27-0)
This choice is almost a given just because of how much the Wildcats have dominated this season. They have had a few scares on their quest for perfection, but they have gotten the victory. I honestly think that the Wildcats will win it all and go undefeated this season. The biggest reason for this prediction is because of Coach Cal. John Calipari is the best college coach right now because of what he can do with teams that are mainly comprised of freshmen. Coach Cal will keep this team composed all throughout the big dance.
Virginia Cavaliers (25-1)
The Virginia Cavaliers have had two of their top 2 players out the past few games, yet they continue to win with their ridiculous defense. The Cavaliers have the best defense in the country, and defense wins championships. Virginia will be able to win the ACC tournament, and i think that they need to at least make it to the ACC Championship game to solidify a #1 seed. Virginia will be able to go deep in the NCAA tournament, and i think that they pose the biggest threat to Kentucky because of their insane defense. They will be able to frustrate the true freshmen with their defense and can match up in size with the Wildcats.
Wisconsin Badgers (25-2)
The Wisconsin Badgers won at least a regular season share of the Big 10 title on Sunday afternoon. Wisconsin has been the best team in the Big 10, and a top team in the country. Wisconsin has the potential to make a run in the tournament because of big man Frank Kaminsky. Kaminsky is the senior leader of Wisconsin and their best player. If he can lead them to the Big 10 tournament championship, I believe that the Badgers will lock up a #1 seed in the NCAA tournament.
Duke Blue Devils (24-3)
The Duke Blue Devils are 2nd in the ACC behind Virginia, but I still think that Duke is deserving of a #1 seed. Duke has played extremely well this season, and with Jahlil Okafor they pose as a threat to Kentucky. However, Duke will first have to win out in ACC play and make some noise in the ACC tournament. I think that Duke will have to not only make it to the ACC championship game, but they will need to win it to solidify their #1 seed for the big dance.
These are my four teams i think will be given #1 seeds, but i do think that Villanova (25-2) can sneak in their if Duke loses in the ACC tournament early on. Villanova has been a surprise this season coming out of the Big East, but Villanova will need some help from other ACC teams to upset Duke for Villanova to attain a #1 seed.
