5 Things We Learned About Week 3 In College Football

5) The Pac-12 is a terrible conference:

UCLA lost 38-14 to Fresno State, Chip Kelly won’t win three games at UCLA, #22 USC lost to Texas 37-14 and #23 Arizona State lost to San Diego State 28-21. ESPN’s, College Game Day, will be in Eugene, Oregon on Saturday. The #20 Oregon Ducks will host the #7 Stanford Cardinal. Both teams are overrated. I would be shocked if the PAC-12 has more than one football team ranked in the top 10 at the end of the season.

#4) LSU continues to win under ED Orgeron:

#12 LSU went into Auburn and upset #7 Auburn 22 to 21 on a game winning FG. The Tigers outscored Auburn 9 to 0 in the 4th quarter to win the game. Coach  Orgeron is now 18-6 at LSU and 11-4 in SEC play. Their is only 1 Nick Saban, not every coach can win 90% of their games. Orgeron has done a good job in Baton Rouge.

#3) Shame on Ole Miss: Mississippi scored on the first pass of the game to take a 7-0  lead over Alabama. They preceded to lose the game 62-7 to the Crimson Tide. I don’t care who you are playing, you can never lose by 55 points at home. It was embarrassing and humiliating for everyone involved. Do better Ole Miss.

#2) #6 Wisconsin loses at home to BYU: Coming into this game, the Badgers had won 41 straight home games against non-conference opponents. All that ended on Saturday. In the upset of the year, BYU walked out of Madison with a 24-21 victory. Wisconsin’s  Paul Chryst, got out-coached from start to finish.

#1) There are 4 contenders for the title:

  • #1 Alabama won 62-7 at Ole Miss.
  • #2 Clemson won 38-7.
  • #3 Georgia won 49-7.
  • #4 Ohio State came from behind and beat a very good TCU team on the road 40-28.

There are really no other challengers for the title. I don’t think Oklahoma has the defense to be a legitimate contender and Notre Dame doesn’t have the offensive firepower. It will be interesting to see how the committee votes if Georgia plays Alabama in the SEC Championship Game. Will the loser make it to the final four?

Bonus Coverage

My Heisman hopeful, Justin Herbert, was 16 for 34 with three touchdowns for the Oregon Ducks.

In three game he has 13 total touchdowns and 4 interceptions.
