5 Reasons The Los Angeles Lakers Are In Big Trouble

We are 1 game into the 2019-2020 NBA season but the Lakers have glaring problems.

5 Reasons The Lakers are in big trouble:

#5) The Lakers bench has no one who can create their own shot:

LA’s bench was outscored 60-19 in their opening game loss to the LA Clippers. Kentavious Caldwell-Pope played 27 minutes and didn’t score a point. Jared Dudley led the bench in scoring with 6 points. The 2nd unit for the Lakers has a few three point shooters but none of them can create offense off the dribble. This could be one of the worst backup units in the NBA.

#4) Who is playing point guard for this team?:

For the first time in LeBron James career, he started the season at point guard. Even if Rajon Rondo comes back and becomes a starter, the Lakers management went into this season, only have Rondo and LeBron as their two point guards. How is that possible?

#3) The Lakers starting 5 has no spacing:

PG: Lebron Jamces
SG: Avery Bradley
SF: Danny Green
PG: Anthony Davis
C : JaVale McGee

Who on this team is going to stretch the defense and shoot the three point shot consistently. This could change when Kyle Kuzma gets healthy. Starting James, McGee and Davis doesn’t leave much spacing on the floor. Defenses are going to pack the paint and force the Lakers into a jump shooting team. Danny Green is a good three point shooter but he has a career average of 9 points per game. If that is who the Lakers are relying on, they won’t go far.

#2) Frank Vogel is the best they could do?

Coaching the Los Angeles Lakers is one of the few jobs in all of sports that everyone envies. Vogel coached the Pacers for 7 full seasons. He had 4 winning years and three losing years. His career coaching record is 304-292. Quin Snyder, Doc Rivers, Gregg Popovich, Steve Kerr, and Mike Malone would all out-coach Vogel in a 7 game series.

#1) LeBron and Anthony Davis will have to carry this team:

The Lakers bench can’t score and they have no point guard. LeBron and Davis will have to play a ton of minutes just to win games. Both players have to average over 25 points, dominate the boards and distribute the basketball every night. This team is a two man show. Kyle Kuzma is a good, young player but he is not an all-star just yet. This organization did a terrible job building this team in the off-season.

These Franchises below have more talent, scoring and depth on their rosters.

LA Clippers
Utah Jazz
Houston Rockets
Denver Nuggets
Portland Trail Blazers
Sacramento Kings
New Orleans Pelicans
San Antonio Spurs

The Lakers should do everything they can to acquire Chris Paul and Jamal Crawford. As constituted, they are a 5-8 seed in the Western Conference.
