How many of you reader’s out there remember this song? More than likely a few since its an 80’s classic hip-hop track.
But it does play into what is going on in the NBA right now. As July 1st comes along, more and more NBA Trade rumors are circling the league. From rumors of the Knicks being interested in players like LaMarcus Aldridge and DeAndre Jordan to LeBron James and Dwayne Wade reuniting in Cleveland. Rumors are the mill that grinds the sports world into what is real and what is fiction.
So lets get some facts straight.
LeBron James, technically is an unrestricted free-agent but lets be realistic, he would not have come back to his hometown of Cleveland just to leave after one season. If you believe that, then you will believe that sharks hunt people on purpose. #Jaws40thAnniversary
So lets get to the MEAT of these NBA Trade rumors for some clarity.
YES players like LaMarcus Aldridge, DeAndre Jordan, Marc Gasol and all who are either unrestricted free agents by choice OR have decided to opt-out of their deals to become unrestricted free agents are legitimate candidates. Out of all the free agents, only Gasol looks to be staying firm with re-signing with his original team, the Memphis Grizzlies. While over in Brooklyn, center Brook Lopez and forward Thaddeus Young seem to have verbal agreements to return, but verbal does NOT mean diddly squat in the world of sports, just look at all the recruits in the college world who have made a verbal commitment ONLY to change it last minute.
Rumors are a good starting point for ANY good reporter/journalist but what makes a rumor become fact is SOLID evidence behind it to prove it is NOT just a rumor. How many of us when going through junior high and high school believed in those rumors about someone we heard about? Rumors about us if there were any circulating around?
Rumors are very POWERFUL when they have traction behind them. It is up to us in the media and you the fans to press pause before believing any rumors that may be circulating before July 1st and when NBA free-agency officially begins.
