The 14-0, #1 ranked Alabama Crimson Tide will take on the 13-1, #2 ranked Clemson Tigers in a rematch of last year’s National Championship Game. Both teams are coming off impressive defensive performances. The Tide stifled #4 Washington 24-7 and Tigers shutout a very good #3 Ohio State team, 31-0. The Sports Whisperer predicted these two teams would meet once again, in my pre-season college football article. The Tide won last year 45-40 .
Bama’s head coach Nick Saban doesn’t lose many games. He has been the most dominating head coach in the history of college football. He has won 5 national championships since 2003. (2003, 2009, 2011, 2012, 2015). His teams never beat themselves and never panic when trailing. The Tide has really become the New England Patriots of college football. They just keep battling, they never get too high or too low and they all believe in the system. Everyone who plays under Saban reaches their potential. Freshman quarterback Jalen Hurts has been great all season long. Against Washington though, he was 7-14 and only threw for 57 yards. Bo Scarbrough rushed for 180 and two touchdowns. Bama can beat you several ways. They can throw for 400 yards or rush for 300. They take what the defense gives them.
Make no mistake about it… Last year, Saban got the better of Clemson head coach Dabo Swinney. It was the first time for Swinney in a game of that magnitude and Saban took advantage of it. I think both coaches will be prepared with a slight edge still going to the Tide.
Quarterback, Deshaun Watson is one of the most dynamic players in all of college football. But he had 17 interceptions on the season including two in the semi-final matchup against OSU. RB Wayne Gallman rushed 18 times for 87 and a touchdown and WR Mike Williams caught 6 passes of 96 yards as Clemson steamed rolled the Buckeyes.
The whole words believes that Bama can’t be beaten. They have that Mike Tyson like feel to them. Clemson, to a man, is not intimidated about what they are facing. In order for the Tigers to win, Watson has to be the best player on the field and he cannot turn the ball over. In my pre-season article, I predicted Clemson would beat Alabama. Nothing has changed my mind. I think Hurts plays like a freshman tonight and Watson leads his team to an upset victory
Take the Tigers over Bama 31-27.
