The Cleveland Cavaliers beat the Golden State Warriors Thursday night 110-99 at Quicken Loans Arena in Cleveland. LeBron James led all scorers with 42 points, he added 11 rebounds and 5 assists. Kyrie Irving had 24 points and Kevin Love added 13 points. Steph Curry had 18 points for the Warriors, but David Lee led the Warriors with 19 points. LeBron James made this a statement game to remind everyone who the best team and best player is.
James had 24 points at the half. It was only a 5 point game at half, but it didn’t stay like that for long. LeBron James took over in the 3rd quarter and the Warriors couldn’t make up the ground they lost. This was a potential Finals preview, and a showcase of two potential MVP’s in James and Curry. James outplayed Curry tonight to make his case for the NBA MVP. However, many people, including myself, believe that Curry will end up winning the MVP because of how consistent he has been all season long.
The Cavaliers are by far the hottest team in the league right now, and they proved that by beating the team with the best record in the NBA. The Cavaliers have been rejuvenated since LeBron James took about 2 weeks off to rest his aching back and knees. He has looked like the LeBron that we all know and love to watch. He was physical when driving to the rim and wasn’t afraid to take some contact in the paint.
This game was a Finals preview for sure. I have Cleveland coming out of the East and Golden State coming out of the West. However, I do think that LeBron and the Cavs could face Durant and the Thunder in the Finals. The Thunder are ranked 8th in the West right now, but with the way that Russell Westbrook is playing without Kevin Durant, it could lead them to the Finals. The East has gotten a little easier for the Cavaliers with the injury to Derrick Rose of the Chicago Bulls. We will see if Atlanta will be able to hold off the Cavaliers, but I don’t think that anyone from the East will be able to shut down the big 3 in Cleveland.
