A game which the Preds lead 3-1 had a most disappointing ending for a team with so much promise. Matt Cullen’s goal in the 1st period gave the Preds a 3-1 lead. A Jonathan Toews goal followed by a Patrick Kane goal tied up the game just before the 1st period expired.
The teams battled through a scoreless 2nd period. This really made the fans in Chicago filling the arena with nervous cheers. With just over three minutes left in the game Duncan Keith fired a slap shot from the blue line past Pekka Rinne and not only won the Blackhawks the game but ended any title hopes anyone who roots for the Predators had. This is obviously a very depressing end to a season that held a lot of promise for the Predators. I mean this team was running uncontested for the president’s trophy until a bad losing streak hit them near the end of the season. You have to wonder how they would have done with their Captain Shea Webber who missed games three through six with an upper body injury. Congrats to the Blackhawks though who overcame their small goalie issue and won this series. They look to face the winner of the St.Louis and Minnesota series.
